My qualifications as a professional appraiser include completing 48 hours of coursework and examination in the Appraisal Core Course, including Appraisal Methodology, procedures, report writing and ethics through the International Society of Appraisers via Northern Illinois University, Naperville, IL campus in October of 2012.
I have completed coursework and examination in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice in October, 2012.
I completed 40 hours of coursework and examination in the specialty course, Antiques and Residential Contents Appraisal in October, 2012, through the International Society of Appraisers via Northern Illinois University, Naperville campus.
I grew up on the North Shore of Chicago amongst antiques collectors, dealers, brokers and appraisers. I hold a degree in Cultural Anthropolgy.
In the early 2000's, I lived outside of Johannesburg, South Africa, where I took other corporate expatriates to auctions, antiques markets, galleries, rug dealers and private sales. I provided requested research, advised on how to set up auction accounts, and assisted with twice daily currency fluctuation information.
When I returned stateside, I became a partner in Whims on Pearl Street, an antiques and vintage consignment shop in McHenry, Illinois. I administered the consignment program, managing 70 consignors, and researching almost 6000 items. The shop was open between late 2005 through 2007.
I am not in the business of buying and selling antiques that I appraise. I love discovering connections to the past, and learning about the people that hold them.
